Rice porridge


1 and 1/2 cup rice
2 Tbsp Toor Dal
1Tsp Jeers
1Tbsp whole black pepper ( as per your taste)
1Tbsp oil
1Tbsp urad dal
1Tbsp channa dal
3 Dry red chilli
5 to 6 Curry leaves


Salt as per your taste



Wash the rice and toor dal and spread it on clean cotton cloth for about 5 mins. Then in mixie take a little mixture of rice and dal and grind it coarsely make sure you don’t grind it too much so that it becomes powder.. Repeat the same with the remaining mixture of dal and rice. Now add cumin, black pepper and salt to the mixture.

Next in a cooker add oil and once its hot add urad dal and channa dal saute for two mins on high flame then add red chilli, curry leaves and asfoetida( generous amount) saute until golden brown in color then add water and bring it to boil once the water is boiled add rice and toor dal mixture along with pepper,cumin and salt.
Stir it for 5mins ( if you feel water is less then you can add more water) pressure cook until 2 whistle.
Instead of pressure cooking you can also just close it with lid and cook for 15mins in low flame stirring occasionally.
