Lentil Soup

This is a late post, I made this soup some two weeks back but was just tied up with trying my hands on with some new recipe which I found when I was looking for a vegan restaurant here in local. Anyways back to today’s recipe. As you have read the title Lentil Soup”. In this soup I have used toor dal. They have different names like Arhar dal,  split pigeon peas. Lentils play a very important role in our food because they are very rich in protein. Different food gives us different sources of energy so thus lentils. I started making my soup by Heating the oil / butter in a cooker over medium flame. Once it’s hot saute the  onion and garlic till they are soft and translucent. It would take about 2 minutes. Then add the carrot and saute it for another 3 to 4 minutes.Add washed lentil along with all the spices ( cinnamon, salt, black pepper, turmeric powder, cumin powder ) and saute it for another 1 minute. Add water/ Vegetable broth and cook it until everything is mashed/ softened. (If you are using cooker take up 3 to 4 whistles  and then let the cooker cool down.Open the cooker, add 2 Tbsp of  fresh cream and blend it with the blender and add water to bring it to the consistency you want for the soup.Heat the butter on a medium flame and add cumin seeds, once it starts to temper  add the mixture to soup.Re-heat the soup and serve it by garnishing it by cilantro or Parsley.
