Sabudana (Javvarisi ) Thalipeeth

Traditionally Thalipeeth is made with 3 different kind of flour along with spices and can be made very quickly and is also very nutritious.

Sabudana (Tapioca ) Thalipeeth is a perfect recipe to add to your cookbook because its very healthy and all the more reason to add because of the Navratri festive. Navratri is celebrated in India which includes fasting and we all know when we are on fast, how limited we are in terms of what to eat and what not to eat. Since we can have Sabudana you can add this recipe to your meal during those days as well.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup of sabudana soaked overnight and drained.

3  boiled potato, peeled and mashed

Wheat flour / Buck wheat ( Kuttu ka aata )  enough to gather ( optional )

2 to 3 chopped green chili

Black pepper ( as per taste )

Salt ( as per taste )

1/2 tsp Chaat Masala ( as per taste )

1/2 tsp Garam Masala ( as per taste )

Few drops of lemon

2 to 3 Tbsp Chopped coriander

Ghee/ Oil to drizzle while you make Thalipeeth

METHOD

Thalipeet

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Basically there are two methods to make Thalipeeth, one is spreading them directly on the pan and second one is rolling on butter paper/ plastic sheet and then transferring it on the pan and cooking it with oil/ghee. I normally use the first method, in which you take a small portion of mixture in the form of ball and place it on the pan and slowly you  press it and turn it into flat round shape. Once it’s lightly cooked on one side turn it to other side and after few minutes add little oil/ clarified butter and roast it on both the sides until slight golden brown in color.  Repeat the same with the rest of the dough and serve it hot with pickle/ curd.

In the Second method, take a small portion of dough and place it in between the butter paper and roll it round and then put it on hot pan and cook it, the way we make parathas.Repeat the same with the rest of the dough and serve it hot with pickle/ curd.
